Description:

Through the scars of time this fortress has remained intact serving as a battle ground for the damned. The eternal walls of this fortress hold within a story of a wrathful war between good and evil. Each fatigued soul which loses grip with life becomes trapped in an endless void of chaos, which is the sustaining energy of this battleground. It was once said that those who seek chaos in this place of the damned will unleash a wrath upon all those within the walls of this abysmal tomb.

My Comments:

This map was intended to push Runes engine to the limit of visual ability without sacrificing too much on the gameplay aspect. Beyond what the map visually looks like it comes with something that hasn’t been done in a Rune map or any other maps I’ve seen.

What is it?
Through the use of ‘zonetemplate’ triggers and actor generators I was able to give players the option of changing the way the map flow runs at any time the players wish. It requires three players working together to enable one of the game modes which is hidden from view.  (If you haven’t seen the wrath video then you can either hunt it down now or read the following to find out how to reach the gamemode switches.)

How do you activate it?

1. First you must enter the blood lust chamber. (To do so you must go to the middle bottom level of the complex, on the far wall opposite of the entrance to the front gates is a tapestry.  You must cut the tapestry in half with your weapon and a secret door will be opened adjacent to the tapestry.)

2. Enter through the door and take the lift down into the chamber.  Once you have reached here you will notice a door in front of you.  On the flat face wall where you came down the lift is another secret door. (This is the door which leads to the game mode switches. )

3. After you have reached this point you must tell the two other people helping you change the game mode jump down onto the little platforms on the north and south end of the maps. (You can find these little platforms by going to the edge of the rock pillar that the fortress sits upon and looking for them.)

4. When the two players pull the switches, which are on the platforms, a stone door and an iron gate will open allowing you to enter the next chamber.

5. There will be three switches, Pull One (Normal, HardCore and NoRunes)

At this point the Level will redistribute the weapon/item placement of the map and the visual appearance of the level will change depending upon what game mode you activated.

Normal Mode: This is how the map was intended to be played.

Hardcore: This game mode adjusts the weapon layout of the map. It removes small weapons, shields, food and health runes. It creates more runes of strength and leaves the remaining runes of power spread throughout the
level. Basically creating a chaos through the level and speeds up the frag count by quite a bit.

No Runes: This mode was put into the map to account for those players who just don’t like to Play Rune without Runes…Once you switch the map to this mode the weapon layout is changed yet again. Runes are removed from the map and replaced with other usable items.
